As is customary every summer, the team at Emagine look back on the past twelve months and draw up a shortlist of our favourite projects to enter into the Irish Web Awards. Each year we have a good variety of websites spread across 5-8 categories, mostly the e-commerce, small business & local government categories.
As a designer, the category I pay the most attention to is “Most Beautiful Website in Ireland”. It’s also the category that receives the most entries. Some really gorgeous sites have won this category over the years and it’s a great place to start for design inspiration when keeping up with the latest trends in our industry.
As the deadline for entries for this years approached, we submitted our nominations into the various categories and waited for the judging to start. Every couple of weeks the Longlist became quarter finalists, then semi finalists and then finalists. At finals stage four sites that I had designed were still in the mix:
Ardkeen Quality Food Store, Most Beautiful, Best Ecommerce / Retail
Waterford Institute of Technology, Best Education, Best Practice
Winterval Waterford, Best Microsite
The Little Milk Company, Most Beautiful, Best SME Website
On what was a fantastic evening in the RDS, Emagine picked up two awards. Best Ecommerce - Retail for Ardkeen Quality Food Store and the award for Most Beautiful Website for The Little Milk Company.
Everyone involved both on the client side & in Emagine, was naturally thrilled with the results but it’s a real personal ambition fulfilled to have nabbed the award for Most Beautiful.
